Jack Frank Conrad, Jr.

January 23, 1945 ~~~ August 15, 2018

Jack Frank Conrad Jr., of Georgetown, passed away from a sudden illness on Aug. 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born Jan. 23, 1945, in Fort Worth to Jack Frank Conrad and Jane Arrington Conrad. He spent his youth in Fort Worth before moving to El Campo with his mother and stepfather (Teb Reddell) in 1960. Jack was a member of the Class of 1963 at El Campo High School, where he played basketball and baseball, and was a member of the 1962 State Championship Baseball Team.

Jack attended Sam Houston State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social studies and a master’s degree in counseling, and he was in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1967-1973.

Jack met his future wife, Stepha Denice Fuqua, in May 1970, and they were married on Nov. 27, 1970. After their coaching and teaching careers took them from Edna to Conroe, they returned to El Campo in 1978 to raise their two sons, Chris and Kevin. Jack opened Sports-N-Things in 1979, and was a constant supporter and contributor to El Campo High School athletics, El Campo Little League and the Wharton County Youth Fair.

After retiring in 2005, Jack and Stepha moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas, where Jack enjoyed many rounds of golf (and four hole-in-ones) and made many new friends. Jack and Stepha enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with their three grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Reddell; his father, Jack Frank Conrad Sr.; his mother-in-law, Lucille Taylor Fuqua; his stepfather, Teb Allen Reddell; his nephew, James Barton Hicks and his brother-in-law, William Herman Hicks.

He is survived by Stepha, his loving wife of 48 years; sons, Chris Conrad of Norman, Okla. and Kevin Conrad and wife Jennifer of Austin; grandchildren, Cooper, Georgia and Juliana Conrad; sister, Carolyn Hicks of Fort Worth; father-in-law, Buster Fuqua of Conroe; sisters-in-law, Deana Deck (David) of Conroe and Cathy Ehley (Pete) of Waller; nephews, Bill Hicks, Brad Hicks, Brett Deck and Michael Paul Ehley and, nieces Wendy Hulsey, Lauren Halford and C.J. Owens.

A celebration of Jack’s amazing life will be held at the Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633, on Sept. 29, 2018, at 2 p.m.
