James R. “Jim” Sheffield

James R. "Jim" Sheffield, Jr., 65, of Dayton, died Fri., Jan. 14, 2011, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 20, 2011, at Maranatha Church in Mont Belvieu, with graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, at Maranatha Church in Mont Belvieu. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jim was born June 28, 1945 in Houston, to parents; James R. "Jim Bob" and Ola M. Graham Sheffield, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 12 years. He was a graduate of the El Campo High School class of 1963, received a BS in Science from Stephen F. Austin, a retired lab supervisor for Siemens of Houston after 15 years of employment, and a member of the Maranatha Church of Mt. Belvieu. Jim also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He read Louis L ‘Amour novels and enjoyed studying history.

Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by his father: James R. "Jim Bob" Sheffield, Sr. and brother-in-law: Jimmy Franklin. He is survived by his wife of 14 years: Charlotte Taylor Sheffield of Dayton, son: James R. "Trey" Sheffield, III and wife Kim of Victoria, stepdaughter: Monique Papillion of Dayton, mother: Ola M. Graham Sheffield of Pearland, sisters: Bobbie Franklin of Angleton and Patty Osina and husband Charles of Houston, sister-in-law: Loleta Taylor of Groves, grandchildren: SN Justin Sheffield, US Navy of New London, CT, Jamee Sheffield of Atascocita, Jessica Richards of Victoria, and Jordan Sheffield of Victoria, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
