Minerva V. Carter

Minerva V. Carter, 66 of Rosenberg and formerly of El Campo, passed away on May 6, 2011. She was born on July 26, 1944 in Victoria to Isabel Rodriguez and Edward Vallejo Sr. She was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Carter of Rosenberg; stepchildren, Kenneth Carter of Albuquerque, N.M. and Diann Carter of El Paso; sisters, Mary V. Arredondo of El Campo, Mary Ellen V. Escobar of El Campo, brothers Edward R. Vallejo Jr. of El Campo, Alfred R. Vallejo of Missouri City, Gilbert R. Vallejo of Houston and Emilio R. Vallejo of Victoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elisa Fortanelli; brothers, Carlos R. and Richard R. Vallejo.

A rosary and memorial service will be held at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in El Campo at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11.

Jerry Martin Carter

Jerry Martin Carter, 71, of Rosenberg, passed away on Dec. 16, 2011. He was born Feb. 15, 1940 in San Antonio to Joseph Malcomb and Bertha Mary DeLane Carter. He served his county in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965. He received a bachelor of arts degree in 1965, a bachelor of science degree in 1973 and a master of science degree in 1974, all from the University of Texas. He was a retired educator.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Carter of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Diann Carter of El Paso; sister, Marilyn Carlisle of Hudson, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Mary V. Arredondo of El Campo and Mary Ellen Escobar of El Campo; brothers-in-law, Edward R. Vallejo Jr. of El Campo, Alfred R. Vallejo of Missouri City, Gilbert R. Vallejo of Houston and Emilio R. Vallejo of Victoria and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 29 years, Minerva Ann Vallejo Carter on May 6, 2011.  

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in El Campo.
